The slow fashion lover's travel duster - the process behind designing a meaningful gift
Share
We've wanted for awhile now to develop a branded gift.
Something that customers would receive for free with a minimal purchase that is thoughtful, useful and also aligned with our brand values.
Something that would elevate the unboxing experience without contributing to more waste.
Not gifting for gifting's sake, but a gift that journeys with our customer and extends the life cycle of her slow fashion pieces. After lots of research and soul-searching through, we finally settled on a duster bag, specifically, a travel duster bag!
The criteria that we set out for our bag were:
- functionality
- durability and workmanship
- aesthetics - nothing too utilitarian, something unique, soft yet protective
- experiential - the process of opening and closing that connects us to our clothing
- meaningful call to action - of slow fashion values, to extend product life cycle
This is why we've opted not for a simple drawstring bag, but an envelope with 2 pockets.
It's not SUPER utilitarian with zips and all, with a ribbon tie construction that'd give ample closure without restricting the amount of clothing you can pack.
We added a subtle copy "Protecting your heirloom pieces for the journey and beyond." to ensure that the message feels intimate and not prescriptive.
Here is a sneak peek of our product development process to get each detail of the bag right!
Let us know what you think, when you get your hands on one. :)
